Every month we go around the island and look at all the gardens. We pick one garden per month (sometimes two) as the Garden of the Month. The gardens that have been picked will be published in that month's edition of the Utila East Wind. At the end of the year we will put together a Calendar with all the Gardens of the Month. Garden of the month September 06
For this month we have again chosen two gardens for the Garden of the Month. These pictures were taken in the garden at the Mango Inn. The planting of this garden started in 1998 and has turned into a beautiful jungle since then with a variety of plants. At the moment Olivia Rodriguez takes care of it and Hector Alvaraz takes care of the watering.

The pictures of the garden below and on the right hand side were taken in the Jade Seahorse. Both Neil and Julia look after the garden. Walking through it makes you feel like you are in Wonderland!

This months Garden of the Month belongs to Mrs. Margaret Bodden who now lives in the United States most of the year. When she is not here her son Freddie Cooper looks after the garden for her. A few times a year Mrs. Bodden comes back to Utila and lavished love on her garden. Her son says that she is the one with the green fingers!

The garden of July belongs to Luis Zelaya and can be found in Camponado. His property is surrounded by rock wall and he has used the same to build planting features throughout the garden giving it a very clean look. Over the past years, Luis has gained a lot of experience building and designing walls and gardens for his job.

This month we decided to have two garden of the month. The first one belongs to Ismena Soriana. She cleans the garden every morning and wets the plants in the morning and in the evening.

This garden belongs to Rennie Bodden at Bayview Hotel. It is more of a formal garden as Rennie like straight line. He would like to see more people on Utila keeping their gardens tidy.
